Nicolas Legendre is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Finance at HEC Montréal. He holds a PhD in Finance from the University of Ottawa. His research focuses on entrepreneurial finance, lending discrimination, cooperative lenders, and government intervention in financial markets, with an emphasis on supporting underrepresented groups and Indigenous communities. He teaches Venture Capital and the Finance of Innovation (MSc) and Stratégies financières des PME (BBA).
His recent research employs confidential survey and administrative data from Statistics Canada to analyze small business financing dynamics. He has supervised eight MSc projects investigating topics like Indigenous community contamination, venture capital syndication, and private equity market risks.
