Nicolas Dewitte Langenfeld is a doctoral student at the Humboldt University of Berlin since March 2022 and a member of the DFG Research Training Group 'Dynamic Integration Order' since October 2022. His research focuses on international private and procedural law, European commercial law, arbitration, and comparative law. He has undertaken research stays at KU Leuven (2025) and the Institut de droit comparé of the University Paris-Panthéon-Assas (2023).
- Education: Studied law in Berlin and Münster; trained in French as a foreign language.
- Professional Experience: Legal traineeship at Brandenburg Higher Regional Court, Federal Foreign Office, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (Antitrust, Competition, and Trade Practice), and the Court of Justice of the European Union (Cabinet of Advocate General Henrik Saugmandsgaard Øe).
His teaching includes working groups on Civil Law I (BGB AT/Obligations Law AT) and Civil Law III (Commercial and Corporate Law). His publications (co-authored where applicable) address topics such as international commercial courts in Germany, European commercial law challenges, and procedural reforms.
