Ioannis Delikostopoulos

Ioannis Delikostopoulos is an Associate Professor at the Athens Law School, University of Athens, and an Attorney at Law before the Greek Supreme Court. His expertise lies in Civil Procedural Law and European Procedural Law, with a focus on international jurisdiction, judicial discretion, and legal harmonization. He holds a LL.B. from the London School of Economics (1991), Maîtrise en droit and D.E.A. en droit privé from the University of Paris-II Panthéon-Assas (1992, 1993), and a Ph.D. in Law (1999). He served as a Visiting Researcher at Harvard Law School (1997-1998) under Joseph H. Weiler.

He teaches Civil Procedure and European Procedural Law at both undergraduate and graduate levels. His research explores procedural law dynamics at national and EU levels, including the application of Regulation 1215/2012 on international jurisdiction. He has authored influential works such as Provisional Orders in Civil Procedural Law (2019) and Le procès civil à l’épreuve du droit processuel européen (2003), and contributed to the Droit Processuel collective work (Dalloz 2019).

His publications address critical issues like truth-seeking in civil proceedings, procedural grounds for cassation, and judicial discretion in evidence assessment. His work bridges national legal systems with EU procedural frameworks, emphasizing practical and theoretical advancements in civil adjudication processes.
