معرفی
Dr. Nicolas Chomont is a tenured Professor at the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Infectious Diseases, Université de Montréal, and leads research at the CRCHUM. His work focuses on characterizing HIV reservoirs to develop eradication strategies. He holds a PhD from Université Pierre and Marie Curie (Paris VI) and completed postdoctoral training at Université de Montréal. His research includes viral latency mechanisms, reservoir quantification, and therapeutic development.
Education:
- PhD in Medical Virology, Université Pierre and Marie Curie (Paris VI)
- Postdoctoral Fellowship at Université de Montréal and CRCHUM
Research Interests: HIV reservoirs in CD4+ T cells, latency mechanisms, reservoir quantification tools, and translational therapies targeting persistence. His work bridges virology, immunology, and clinical trials.
Grants & Projects: Leads and collaborates on projects funded by CIHR, NIH, and others, including the Canadian HIV Cure Enterprise and studies on HIV-COVID-19 interactions. Notable grants include:
- "Single-cell approaches to characterize and target the cellular reservoirs of HIV infection" (CIHR)
- "Reducing Proviral HIV DNA with interferon-α Immunotherapy" (NIH)
Awards: Recipient of the Teaching Excellence Award from the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Infectious Diseases (2017-2018).
Labs & Teams: Directs a research team at CRCHUM focusing on HIV persistence mechanisms and cure strategies. Collaborates with global networks like the Delaney AIDS Research Enterprise (DARE).
