Nicola Jane Ray

Professor Nicola Jane Ray is a Professor of Neuroscience at Manchester Metropolitan University. Her research focuses on neuroimaging and deep brain stimulation (DBS) in Parkinson’s disease, aiming to develop predictive biomarkers for clinical trials and disease progression. She collaborates with leading institutions and industry partners like Medtronic to advance adaptive DBS technologies.

Prior to her current role, she worked at the University of Oxford with Professor Tipu Aziz during the early days of DBS, then at the University of Toronto under Professor Antonio Strafella, studying early-stage Parkinson’s through neuroimaging. She has maintained partnerships with clinicians like Prof. Monty Silverdale and Dr. Antonella Macerollo to integrate clinical and neurotechnological insights.
