Dr Jo McNulty is a Senior Lecturer in BA (Hons) Early Years and Childhood Studies at Manchester Metropolitan University since 2013. She previously served as Programme Leader (2016-2020) and has held roles in admissions, assessment coordination, and year leadership across Levels 4-6.

Her research focuses on children's learning and development, particularly challenging conventional linear interpretations of transition through postmodern analytic autoethnography. She explores how transitions can be understood as non-linear, entangled experiences, incorporating participant data and storytelling.
Selected publications address cultural education frameworks (2019), assessment practices in children's centers (2013), and conceptualizations of transition (2017). Her work spans educational theory, early childhood pedagogy, and comparative education approaches.
