Nicola Forshaw

Nicola Forshaw is a Senior Lecturer and Course Lead for Acting, Drama, and Theatre at York St John University. Trained at Northern Ballet School, she danced professionally in Greece and the UK before completing an MA in Applied Theatre.

• Specialized in movement for actors, somatic practices, and choreography
• Founded Dancing for Well-being CIC for elderly community projects
• Current PhD research: Women Re-Performing Ageing

Her practice-led research explores dance as a tool for social inclusion and well-being, including projects with:

• Children with special educational needs
• Families in prison settings
• Multi-generational women’s groups
• Collaborations with Accessible Arts and Media
