Nicki Mcrae

Nicki Mcrae serves as Lecturer in Physiotherapy and Physiotherapy Placement Lead within the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Social Care at Canterbury Christ Church University. With extensive NHS clinical experience spanning respiratory, surgical, and vascular specialties, she previously held the role of Team Lead Physiotherapist for Critical Care, Surgery and Vascular, leading her team through the pandemic before transitioning to educational leadership.

Her professional focus centers on respiratory physiotherapy and critical care applications, with significant expertise in acute care settings and clinical education systems. This specialization emerged from early-career NHS rotations that cultivated her expertise across surgical, vascular, and intensive care domains, later evolving into placement innovation and professional advisory work through Health Education England and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.

As Placement Lead for the Physiotherapy BSc program, she develops alternative clinical placement models to address healthcare education demands, leveraging regional stakeholder networks built during her CSP role as South-East Professional Advisor. Her current work emphasizes expanding student placement capacity while maintaining clinical education standards across diverse healthcare settings.
