Nick Parkin is an Associate Lecturer in Theatre and Performance at Goldsmiths, University of London, specializing in environmental and site-based sound and performance. He holds a BA in Fine Arts/Community Arts (Bradford, 1983) and MA in Electro-acoustic Composition (UEA, 1999). An award-winning composer, his work explores landscape, body states, and ritual through performance, installations, and sound. He won the Bourges Electro-acoustic Prize (2001) and has created over 30 commissions for international dance/theatre companies. His pedagogy includes teaching Butoh and site-specific performance across Europe since 2001.
Research interests span environmental soundscapes, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the intersection of natural/industrial aesthetics. Training includes Contact Improvisation, Noh Theatre, and martial arts (Aikido, Kung Fu).
