Dr Aki Pasoulas is a Reader in Music and Audio Technology at the University of Kent, serving as Director of Education and Director of the Music and Audio Arts Sound Theatre (MAAST). He holds a PhD from City University London (AHRC-funded) and advanced degrees from Goldsmiths University. His research focuses on acousmatic music, time perception, and soundscape ecology, leading projects like the AHRC-funded 'Sonic Palimpsest' exploring heritage soundscapes. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and actively participates in interdisciplinary networks such as the Sound-Image-Space Research Centre (SISRC).

Research interests include psychoacoustics, spatial sound, and the intersection of sound with memory and environment. He has organized major international conferences and festivals, including the Sound of Memory conference and Acousmatic Transcendence festival. His compositions are performed globally and housed in prestigious archives like the Institut International de Musique Electroacoustique de Bourges (IMEB).
Recent publications analyze temporal perception in music and the role of sound in cultural heritage. He supervises PhD topics on sonic dramaturgy, interactive music interfaces, and spectral composition techniques. Aki’s work bridges artistic practice with academic research, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches and public engagement through installations and soundscapes.
