Nick Krachler is a Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management at King's Business School, King's College London. He holds a PhD and MSc from Cornell University with specializations in human resource management, comparative employment relations, and work and occupations sociology, as well as an MSc in Political Sociology from the London School of Economics.
His research program focuses on mechanisms of institutional change in the care economy, including workforce innovation through new roles, market-making, and the regulation of work and employment, with comparative studies across the US, UK, and several European countries. His work spans healthcare workforce dynamics, labor relations in public sector, and marketization effects in healthcare systems.
Dr. Krachler's recent publications reveal a strong focus on healthcare workforce challenges, particularly examining employee wellbeing during the pandemic, leadership training in healthcare, and the economic wellbeing of NHS staff. His research demonstrates consistent cross-national comparative approaches, often analyzing the US, UK, and European contexts side by side to identify patterns and differences in institutional responses to healthcare workforce challenges.

With practical experience as a paramedic, HR management consultant, and researcher for European-wide projects on marketization effects, Dr. Krachler brings valuable real-world perspective to his academic work. He currently serves as Co-Investigator on the Maudsley Clinical Leadership Development Programme (2025-2026) and is leading research on Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Occupations. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to decent work, industry innovation, and reduced inequalities.
