Nick Bland is a Visiting Professor at the University of Edinburgh's School of Social and Political Science and co-director of What Works Scotland, an ESRC/Scottish Government initiative focused on public service reform. With 20 years of experience in social and public policy, his work examines the scalability of change initiatives, collaborative leadership, and workforce development. He holds an MA in Social Anthropology from the University of St Andrews, an MSc in Social Research Methods, and a doctorate in Police Reform from the University of Surrey.
His research has influenced national policing policies, including reforms to stop-and-search practices in the UK. He specializes in building research infrastructure and government-university partnerships.
