Nicholas Wardle

Nicholas Wardle is an Assistant Professor in Energy-Frontier Physics at the Department of Physics, Imperial College London, affiliated with the Faculty of Natural Sciences. He is a member of the CMS Collaboration, High Energy Physics Group, and the Centre for High-Throughput Digital Electronics and Machine Learning, with a focus on Higgs boson research and machine learning applications.

His research in High Energy Particle Physics involves precision measurements of the Higgs boson, searches for exotic decay modes (including Dark Matter particles), and developing advanced statistical and machine-learning techniques to reinterpret experimental results. He has been active in these areas since joining the CMS Collaboration in 2010, with a strong emphasis on preserving data for future analyses.

Wardle held an Ernest Rutherford Fellowship (2017–2022) and was a CERN Research Fellow (2013–2016) before becoming a Lecturer at Imperial College in 2022. His scientific contributions have been recognized through his fellowship award, and he continues to mentor students and collaborate on interdisciplinary projects in particle physics and machine learning.
