Nicholas Spencer serves as a Matthew Flinders Professor at Flinders University's College of Medicine and Public Health and is a Full Member of the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute. He has been a prominent figure at Flinders University since 2007, following nine years at the University of Nevada School of Medicine where he began as a postdoc and rose to Assistant Professor.
