Professor Nicholas Pleace is a Professor of Housing and Society and Associate Dean of School for Research and Impact at the University of York's School for Business and Society. He holds a BA in Politics (Portsmouth Polytechnic) and an MA in Public Policy (University of Manchester). His research focuses on homelessness, housing exclusion, and their intersections with climate justice and urban sustainability. He leads the Centre for Housing Policy and serves on the European Observatory on Homelessness, FEANTSA, and editorial boards of journals like the European Journal of Homelessness. His work emphasizes interdisciplinary, mixed-method approaches to policy evaluation and international comparisons. Recent projects include Housing First strategies, EU homelessness policy analysis, and the INGENIOUS air quality initiative. He has advised on homelessness prevention, veterans' housing, and sustainable communities.
Research interests span homelessness prevention, spatial inequalities, and climate justice.
