Nicholas Mills is a Lecturer in the Institute of Policing at Staffordshire University. With 30 years of policing experience, he specialized in serious crime investigation, homicide intelligence, and cold case reviews. His academic roles include developing the first direct-entry detective programme under the Police Education and Qualifications Framework, and contributing to the MSc Investigation Practice and undergraduate apprenticeship programmes in serious crime investigation.
Education: Post Graduate Certificate in Higher and Professional Education (Distinction) and MA in Education (Merit) from Staffordshire University. Current doctoral research focuses on the impact of higher education programmes on police decision-making processes.
Research interests span decision-making in major crime investigations, cold case methodologies, and the role of academic training in operational policing. He holds the distinction of Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
