Sacha Smith is a Lecturer in Policing at the Institute of Policing, Staffordshire University. She teaches on the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) and Degree Holder Entry Programme (DHEP), focusing on modules such as Policing Practice, Evidence-Based Policing, and Community Policing. Her research interests include victimology, offender management, rural policing, and lifelong education.
- Education: BA (Hons) Criminology and Criminal Justice with Law (First Class), MA in Professional Practice and Lifelong Education (Distinction), PGCE in Post Compulsory Education, and ILM Level 3 in Coaching and Mentoring
Sacha’s research explores evidence-based policing strategies, criminological theory, and community engagement. She has contributed to initiatives in offender management and rural crime prevention through her roles in policing and academia. Her teaching emphasizes practical application of theory, informed by her operational policing experience and academic coaching roles.
Sacha is affiliated with the Research Centre for Crime, Justice and Security and actively engaged with the Cambridge Centre for Evidence-Based Policing. She has supervised PCDA students’ final-year research projects and provided academic support to over 500 students in business management and nursing.
