Nicholas Marsden

Nicholas Marsden is an Instrument Scientist at the National Centre for Atmospheric Science (NCAS) and is embedded in the Earth and Environmental Sciences department at the University of Manchester. With over 18 years of experience, his research focuses on developing analytical techniques for cloud physics, air quality, and climate change applications. He holds a PhD in the development of aerosol time-of-flight mass spectrometry for mineral dust measurement, supervised by Prof. Coe and Prof. Allan.

Research Interests: Marsden specializes in atmospheric chemistry and physics, leveraging advanced instrumentation such as mass spectrometry. His work addresses topics like aerosol dynamics, cloud microphysics, and climate modeling, with contributions to projects like DCMEX and EUREC4A. His expertise spans instrumentation development, mineralogy, and environmental chemistry.

Collaborations & Activities: He has participated in international campaigns such as the EUREC4A field project and organized events like the NCAS Air Quality Symposium. His external roles include Technical Resource Manager at Providion (2008–2013) and various technical roles at Waters Corporation and Halliburton.
