Nicholas Bartlett is a PhD candidate and Sessional Lecturer in the Department of French, Hispanic and Italian Studies at the University of British Columbia. His research focuses on queer theory intersections with medieval travel writing, particularly analyzing non-heteronormative bodies in texts like Jean de Mandeville's works. He holds a B.A. in French Language/Literature and Music Performance, and an M.A. in French Linguistics from UBC.

Research interests include Romance philology, queer theory applications to medieval texts, and linguistic analysis. He has presented work at major conferences including the International Congress on Medieval Studies and FHIS symposia.
Awards include FHIS Teaching Assistant Awards (2021-2022) and the Ximena Osegueda Prize (2020). His teaching focuses on French language courses at undergraduate levels, including FREN 102, 111, and 401. Supervised by Dr. Anne Salamon, his work challenges heterocentric assumptions in medieval textual analysis.
