Nguyen, Long

Long Nguyen serves as Professor and Chair in the U.A. Whitaker College of Engineering at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU), a position held since joining the institution in 2011. Prior to his academic career, he accumulated over six years of full-time professional experience in construction industries across both the United States and Vietnam.

His academic credentials include:

• PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley (2007)
• MS in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley (2005)
• MEng in Construction Engineering and Management from the Asian Institute of Technology (2003)
• BEng in Civil Engineering from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (1999)

Dr. Nguyen's research centers on creating resilient built environments through advanced quantitative methods in construction management, precision in project planning and control systems, and innovations in construction engineering practices. His work specifically targets enhanced productivity in construction methods and sustainable infrastructure development, addressing critical challenges in modern construction through data-driven approaches and resilient design frameworks.

He maintains active professional engagement through memberships in the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Construction Research Council, American Council for Construction Education (ACCE), and Associated Schools of Construction (ASC).
