Dr. Ness Avery is a Clinical Lecturer in Dental Education at the Peninsula Dental School, part of the Faculty of Health at the University of Plymouth. She has been practicing as a General Dental Practitioner (GDP) since 2012, with clinical expertise in orthodontics, particularly clear aligner appliances. Since 2020, she has served as a Clinical Supervisor at the Derriford Dental Education Facility (DEF), mentoring Year 5 BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) and Year 3 BDTH (Bachelor of Dental Therapy and Hygiene) students. In 2022, she expanded her role to include Clinical Lecturer responsibilities across all year groups in the BDS and BDTH programs.
Her academic leadership roles include Interprofessional Learning Co-lead, Remediation Lead, and Professionalism Development Lead for BDS students (Years 1–3). Her research interests focus on Oral Microbiology and innovative approaches to dental education.
