Nelson Kim is an Associate Professor at Wagner College in the Department of Visual Arts, where he serves as co-director (with Philip Cartelli) of the Film and Media program. He holds an M.F.A. in Film from Columbia University and a B.A. in English and Film from the University of California at Berkeley.
Kim's research interests center on film production, screenwriting, directing techniques, and film criticism. His work explores independent filmmaking approaches, psychological storytelling, and innovative distribution methods. He has particular expertise in digital filmmaking techniques developed during the pandemic era, as demonstrated by his Zoom-filmed short "THE COMPLAINT".
His creative output shows a consistent focus on psychological narratives and innovative production methods, with "SOMEONE ELSE" being described by critics as "a tense, unexpectedly moving psychological study of a man's unraveling" and "a highly intriguing debut."
