Neilesh Bose is Professor and Canada Research Chair in Global and Comparative History at the University of Victoria. His research examines modern South Asia within global contexts, focusing on cultural/intellectual history, decolonization, migration, and the intersections between religion, literary culture, and globalization.
Education includes BA (Pittsburgh), MA (Chicago), and PhD (Tufts). Current book projects include a study of religious reform in 19th century colonial India and a biography of transnational nationalist Taraknath Das. Bose directs the Global South Colloquium and collaborates with UVic research centers including Centre for Asia-Pacific Initiatives and Centre for Global Studies.
Awards include Canada Research Chair, Fulbright Scholarship, and fellowships from Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute and Bogliasco Foundation.
