Research & Scholarly Interests
Neil’s scholarship sits at the intersection of organisational theory and social innovation. He interrogates how social-purpose organisations are conceived, governed, and scaled, with particular attention to race, housing, community enterprise, peacekeeping institutions, and the ethics of organisational power. His recent work explores organisational lethality—the capacity of organisations to do systemic harm—and the redemptive possibilities of social innovation.
Research Trends in Recent Work
Across 2024–2025 publications, a clear arc emerges: from diagnosing structural failures in global governance (UN peacekeeping, climate mobility, SDG blockages) to proposing reparative, community-centred innovations. Recurring themes include meta-organisational reform, symbolic construction of social problems, and the historical agency of marginalised communities (BME housing associations, Black business schools).
