Prof Neil Murphy is an Associate Provost (Educational Innovation) and Acting Chair of the School of Humanities at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. He holds the TPMID Chair Professorship and is a Professor of English. Previously, he taught at the University of Ulster and the American University of Beirut. His academic background includes a BA and MA from University College Galway and a PhD from University College Dublin.
His research focuses on Irish literature, postmodernism, and author studies, with particular attention to figures like Flann O’Brien, Dermot Healy, and John Banville. He has authored monographs such as Irish Fiction and Postmodern Doubt (2004) and edited volumes including The Routledge Companion to Literature and Art (2023). His editorial work spans special issues on Flann O’Brien and multi-volume projects on Dermot Healy’s oeuvre.
Prof Murphy’s publications reflect a commitment to interdisciplinary scholarship, blending literary analysis with cultural critique. His recent work emphasizes collaborative editing and the intersection of literature with other art forms.
