Neil Mehta is a Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and serves as the Associate Dean for Research at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), School of Public Health. He has previously held faculty positions at Emory University and the University of Michigan. His research focuses on aging, mortality, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and immigrant health and wellbeing, bridging demography, sociology, and epidemiology.

His work emphasizes interdisciplinary methods to address aging-related challenges and population health dynamics.
Neil has received the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health and Society Scholar award at the University of Michigan. He currently directs the NIA-funded TRENDS network on dementia and disability in older populations, sponsored by the University of Michigan.
