Dr. Neil Forkey is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Canadian Studies Department at St. Lawrence University. He specializes in environmental history and has authored books such as Canadians and the Natural Environment to the Twenty-First Century (2012) and Shaping the Upper Canadian Frontier (2003). His current research focuses on environmental activism in the St. Lawrence River watershed. He teaches courses on Canadian history, Canadian-American relations, and Quebec studies.
- Education: Ph.D. in Canadian history (Queen’s University), M.A. (University of Maine), B.A. (University of Massachusetts).
His research interests span environmental policy, regional development, and the intersection of history with contemporary environmental challenges. Recent work explores grassroots activism in ecological conservation.
He currently serves as President of the Mid-Atlantic and New England Council of Canadian Studies (MANECCS) and participates in university committees like the Academic Planning Committee and the Advisory Committee on Admissions and Financial Aid.
