Neil Beattie is a Professor of Energy Innovation and Director of the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training (ReNU) at Northumbria University. He holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Cambridge (2005), with prior work as an Innovation Consultant (2005–2009) for companies like Shell and Rolls-Royce. His research focuses on photovoltaics, particularly solution-processed inorganic thin films and product-integrated PV. He leads initiatives such as the EPSRC-ISCF North East Centre for Energy Materials (NECEM) and Energy Futures, fostering interdisciplinary decarbonization research.
