She leads the Chair of Biochemistry and Chemistry of Natural Products and previously served as Dean (2009-2015). Her research focuses on bioactive compounds in plants, antioxidant mechanisms, and medicinal plant applications. She holds a PhD in Biochemistry from the same institution and has been a faculty member since 1979.
Education:
- PhD in Biochemistry, University of Novi Sad (1983)
- MSc in Biochemistry, University of Novi Sad (1987)
- BSc in Chemistry, University of Novi Sad (1978)
Research Interests: Chemical characterization of plant-derived bioactives, antioxidant properties, antimicrobial activity of essential oils, and chemosystematic analysis. Her work bridges biochemistry, pharmacology, and plant science to develop novel drug candidates and dietary supplements.
Publications: Her work emphasizes plant-derived compounds' therapeutic potential, with studies on Urtica dioica phenolics, Myrtus communis essential oils, and Mentha bioactives. Research spans analytical methods (e.g., HPLC-MS) and clinical applications in infectious disease treatment.
Awards:
- 2004: First Award for Scientific Results, Serbian Ministry of Education
- 2012: 50 Years Jubilee Department Award
- 2017: Lifetime Achievement Award, Vojvodina Scientists Association
Grants & Leadership: Led six national and two international projects, including the HELICO cross-border initiative targeting Helicobacter pylori. Served on editorial boards (e.g., Phytotherapy Research) and held visiting roles at Finnish, Austrian, Spanish, and Thai institutions.
Labs & Teams: Heads the Biochemistry and Natural Products research group, focusing on plant metabolomics and drug discovery collaborations internationally.
