Ned Drew serves as Professor and Chair in the Department of Arts, Culture and Media at Rutgers University-Newark, where he teaches undergraduate graphic design courses and design history. He also holds a part-time teaching position in Pratt Institute's GradComD MFA/MS programs and participates in the AIGA National Design Educators Community Steering Committee.
His professional focus spans graphic design practice and pedagogy, with specialized expertise in typography, book cover design, and visual communication systems. Drew has significantly contributed to design literature through co-authoring influential publications like "BY ITS COVER: Modern American Book Cover Design" and "Purity of Aim: The Book Jacket Designs of Alvin Lustig", while co-editing the academic series "Design Education in Progress" dedicated to design teaching methodologies.
