Brenda McManus is an Associate Professor and Department Chairperson in the Art Department at Pace University’s Dyson College of Arts and Sciences, New York City. She is also a founding partner of BRED, a collaborative design lab focused on experimental and educational design research.
Her educational background includes:

Brenda McManus’s research and professional work centers on graphic and communication design, with a strong emphasis on design education, typography, and visual communication. Her studio-based practice explores design thinking and experimental processes, often bridging academic pedagogy with creative industry innovation. She is deeply involved in fostering student development through design education and serves as Faculty Advisor for the Pace University AIGA Student Group.
Her work has been widely recognized and exhibited by leading design institutions and publications, reflecting her significant contributions to the field.

She teaches a broad range of courses including Graphic Design I/II, Typography, Digital Design, Design for the Internet, and Visual Communication & Technology. She actively integrates professional practice with academic leadership and studio-based research.
BRED, her collaborative design lab with Ned Drew, functions as a research and design education lab, emphasizing self-initiated projects that explore the role of education in shaping the creative industry.
