Neale Blair is a Professor of Urban and Regional Planning at the Belfast School of Architecture & the Built Environment (BSABE), Ulster University. Appointed Associate Head of BSABE in 2017, his expertise spans spatial planning policy, urban design, and cross-border governance. He is affiliated with Ulster’s Built Environment Research Institute (BERI) and Centre for Research on Property and Planning (RPP).
- External Roles: Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI); Senior Fellow of Advance HE; Deputy Chair of the Planning Schools Forum; Member of RTPI's Education and Lifelong Learning Committee.
Research Focus: Explores spatial governance, urban planning pedagogy, and technology-driven stakeholder engagement, including Gen AI applications. His work on resilience and post-conflict urbanism has garnered significant citations.
Awards & Recognitions: RTPI Chartered Membership and Advance HE Senior Fellowship highlight his academic and professional contributions. He also led the 2024 review of the Planning Subject Benchmark Statement.
- Supervision: Currently supervises three doctoral students in Planning at Ulster University.
