معرفی
Navonil De Sarkar, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin. His expertise spans precision medicine, prostate cancer genomics, and bioinformatics, with a focus on liquid biopsy technologies and DNA repair pathways.
- Education: PhD from the University of Calcutta and Indian Statistical Institute, India
- Postdoctoral Training: Worked under Dr. Peter S. Nelson, a leader in prostate cancer genomics
Dr. De Sarkar specializes in multi-omics analysis, developing machine learning frameworks for homologous recombination deficiency prediction, and refining molecular subtypes of prostate cancers. His research includes ctDNA whole-genome sequencing, nucleosome positioning patterns, and preclinical testing of novel therapies.
Recent publications highlight his work in circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) diagnostics, including a Cancer Discovery study demonstrating nucleosome patterns as biomarkers for transcriptional regulator activity (AR, ASCL1, HOXB13, HNF4G, GATA2). His team has developed prediction models for neuroendocrine prostate cancer (NEPC) and androgen receptor active prostate cancer (ARPC) with high accuracy.
Scientific Awards:
- PCF Young Investigator Award (2019)
Dr. De Sarkar contributes to clinical genomics through molecular tumor board coordination, bioinformatics pipeline development, and collaborations with clinicians and translational scientists. His methodologies include large-scale cancer genomics, multi-omics analysis, and advanced computational biology techniques.
