Nathalie Rufer

Nathalie Rufer is an Associate Professor at the University of Lausanne (UNIL) and a key researcher in the Department of Oncology at the University Hospital of Vaud (CHUV). Her work bridges clinical practice and biomedical research, focusing on immune responses against tumors to advance T-cell therapy for cancer. She is affiliated with the UNIL-CHUV Department of Oncology and collaborates with Transfusion Interrégionale CRS.

Her research specializes in oncoimmunology, hematology, and transfusion medicine, particularly exploring adoptive transfer of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) and genetically engineered CAR-T cells. This innovative approach aims to enhance cancer treatments through personalized immunotherapies.

Rufer’s academic journey includes a PhD in immunology (University of Geneva, 1996), postdoctoral training at the Terry Fox Laboratory (Vancouver) and Geneva University Hospitals, followed by leadership roles at ISREC (2001-2009) and CHUV (since 2009). She obtained her federal medical degree (UNIL, 2012) and FMH specialization in hematology (2021).
