Dr. Nathalie Noret serves as Senior Lecturer in Psychology in Education within the Department of Education at the University of York, where she joined in August 2021 and currently directs the British Psychological Society (BPS)-accredited BSc Psychology in Education programme.
Her academic foundation includes an MSc in Psychological Research Methods and PhD completed at the University of Strathclyde, following prior service as Senior Lecturer in Psychology at York St John University.
Dr. Noret's research examines bullying and harassment experiences among children and adolescents, with particular focus on mental health correlations and evaluation of school-based interventions. Her work investigates factors influencing why bullying victimization leads to poor mental health outcomes in some individuals but not others, and develops strategies to mitigate these impacts through evidence-based approaches.
Her recent publications demonstrate strong cross-disciplinary trends, including a major 2025 study published in Child Abuse and Neglect analyzing sibling bullying victimization across 18 countries with 30,000+ adolescents, highlighting global patterns and mental health correlations in early adolescence.
Dr. Noret has secured significant research funding as Principal Investigator for the ESRC IAA project "All About Respect in the Community" (Jan-Mar 2023) developing community networks against gender-based violence, and as Co-investigator for the ESRC project "Reducing Barriers to Reporting" (May 2023-Apr 2024) addressing procedural justice for racially minoritised young women reporting sexual harassment. She actively welcomes PhD students researching bullying and mental health connections.
She maintains active research affiliations with the Psychology in Education Research Centre (PERC), Institute for Mental Health Research York, and Glasgow Caledonian University's Child and Adolescent Health Research Group, while contributing to outreach initiatives like the SUNRAY Building Bridges event and bystander intervention programs.
