Nate Eastman is a Professor of English and Director of First Year Academic Program & First Year Success at Earlham College, located in Richmond, Indiana. His academic home is the Creative Writing department. He holds a Ph.D. and M.A. from Lehigh University and a B.A. from Bowling Green State University.

His research focuses on Shakespearean storytelling techniques, their influence on modern writers (e.g., N.K. Jemisin, Stephen King), and the intersection of literature with civic and artistic community development. He is currently working on a book analyzing the storytelling innovations in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Hamlet, and King Lear.
He serves as vice president of the Richmond Shakespeare Festival, leveraging literature for community engagement through educational programs and public performances. His published works include Shakespeare’s Storytelling (2021) and articles on famine narratives in early modern England and pedagogical theory.
Professional memberships include the Modern Language Association, Renaissance Society of America, and Shakespeare Association of America.
