Dr Natasha Morris is a Lecturer in Islamic Arts and Convenor of the SOAS-Alphawood Postgraduate Diploma in Asian Art, affiliated with the Department of History of Art and Archaeology and the School of Arts at SOAS University of London. Previously, she served as the Myojin-Nadar Project Curator of Middle East Art at the British Museum. She holds a PhD in History of Art from the Courtauld Institute of Art (2020) and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Her research focuses on gender, masculinity, Iranian art history, material culture, and contemporary MENA art, with a particular emphasis on display practices and curation.
Her key publications include ‘Haptic Games’: The Display of Qajar Playing Cards in the British Museum (2024), Hudood: rethinking boundaries (2024), and co-authored works such as Reflections: Contemporary Art of the Middle East and North Africa (2020) and Honar: The Afkhami Collection (2017). Her articles and catalogues explore intersections between art history, cultural heritage, and exhibition design.
Dr Morris’s academic contributions span teaching, curation, and scholarship, reflecting her commitment to interdisciplinary approaches in art history and cultural studies.
