Claire Wintle is a Principal Lecturer in Museum Studies and Art and Design History at the University of Brighton, and Director of the Centre for Design History. She holds a PhD in Art History from the University of Sussex and is affiliated with institutions like the Royal Historical Society and Shiv Nadar University. Her research focuses on decolonization, colonial collecting, and exhibition design, with a geographic emphasis on South Asia and the UK.

- Research Interests: Colonial collecting, museum decolonization, post-independence exhibitions, and curatorial labor. Current projects include 'Curating Challenging Collections' and 'Making Museum Professionals.'
Her academic work is supported by grants from AHRC and the Paul Mellon Centre. She has published extensively, including her monograph Colonial Collecting and Display, and co-edited volumes on decolonization and exhibition design.
Internationally recognized, Wintle has held fellowships and serves on editorial boards such as Journal of Museum Ethnography. She supervises 8 AHRC-funded PhD students and collaborates with museums like the British Museum and V&A.
