معرفی
Natasha Affolder is a Professor and former Associate Dean of Research and International at the Allard School of Law, University of British Columbia. A Rhodes Scholar with a DPhil in Law from Oxford University, she specializes in transnational environmental law and its intersections with climate governance, biodiversity conservation, and corporate accountability. Affolder holds an LLB from the University of Alberta and a BCL from Oxford, and is a member of the Massachusetts Bar.
Her research focuses on revealing marginalized dimensions of environmental law, including the role of non-state actors in treaty implementation, transnational diffusion of environmental norms, and the invisible mechanisms of environmental contracting. She explores how legal frameworks adapt to climate change, biodiversity loss, and large-scale development projects across jurisdictions.
Affolder has supervised graduate research on sustainable development law, climate litigation, international criminal theory, and infrastructure regulation. She is affiliated with UBC's Centre for Feminist Legal Studies and Centre for Law and Environment, and has advised Indigenous communities, NGOs, and governments globally.
Awards include:
- Richard Macrory Prize (2019) for best article in the Journal of Environmental Law
- Rhodes Scholarship for doctoral studies at Oxford
