Professor Natalie Pattison holds the Nightingale Foundation Professorial Chair in Clinical Nursing Practice Research at the University of Hertfordshire, with a 50% NHS-funded clinical academic appointment since 2017. She leads critical care research focusing on supportive care, end-of-life transitions, and staffing models. Her roles include Clinical Lead for Critical Care Recovery at East and North Herts NHS Trust and Trust Lead for Public Involvement in Research. She chairs the UK Critical Care Nursing Alliance and the National Outreach Forum, and serves on the NIHR Critical Care Specialty Group.

Her work emphasizes mixed-methods research, including co-design approaches and rapid qualitative techniques. Key projects include SEISMIC-R (staffing models in ICU), ERACC (enhanced recovery pathways), and SaSI-MED (medication administration safety). She has led over 98 publications and 14 research projects since 2010, focusing on ICU staffing, end-of-life care, and pandemic response.
