Sarah Vollam is a Senior Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences (NDCN), University of Oxford. She co-leads the NIHR-funded Enhanced Recovery After Critical Care (ERACC) program and serves as an Oxford BRC sub-theme lead in Digital Health from Hospital to Home, including leadership of the PROSPECT study using wearable monitoring and machine learning. She also contributes to projects like Virtual HDU and REFLECT, focusing on ambulatory monitoring and post-ICU care improvements.
Sarah holds a PhD from the University of Hertfordshire (2021), has a clinical ICU nursing background, and previously worked as a research nurse. She is an outgoing Associate Editor for Nursing in Critical Care and Deputy Chair of the Intensive Care Society's National Rehabilitation Collaborative. Her scientific awards include being a Visiting Fellow at Oxford Brookes University.
Her research interests span critical care survivorship, digital health interventions, remote patient monitoring, machine learning for clinical deterioration detection, and rehabilitation strategies for post-ICU patients. She actively supports nurses, midwives, and allied health professionals in research careers through a research secondment program and collaborates with institutions like the Medical Sciences Division at Oxford and Oxford Brookes University.
