Natalie Mota, PhD, is an Associate Professor and Research Director at the Department of Clinical Health Psychology, Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba. She holds cross-appointments in the Department of Psychiatry (Max Rady College of Medicine) and the Department of Psychology (Faculty of Arts).
- Education: Yale University School of Medicine (Postdoctoral Associate, 2015), University of Manitoba (PhD in Clinical Psychology, 2014), University of Mississippi Medical Center (Pre-doctoral Psychology Resident, 2014), University of Manitoba (MA in Psychology, 2009), McGill University (BA Honors in Psychology, 2006)
Her research focuses on the psychological and physical impacts of trauma, particularly in vulnerable populations, with emphasis on occupational stress, women’s health, and negative health risk behaviors. She aims to develop accessible trauma-related prevention initiatives.
Dr. Mota has received significant recognition, including the University of Manitoba’s Dr. John Arnett for Excellence in Teaching Award (2021) and the Scientist-Practitioner Early Career Award (SPECA) from the Canadian Psychological Association (2020).
She also serves as a clinical psychologist at the Operational Stress Injury Clinic in Winnipeg, specializing in trauma-related disorders and suicide prevention for Canadian Armed Forces, RCMP members, and veterans.
