Natalia Lazzati is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC). She also serves as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Mathematical Economics. Her research focuses on integrating economic theory with empirical analysis, particularly in games of strategic complements (supermodular games) and their applications to peer effects, technology diffusion, and market dynamics. She co-develops an education hub platform with Prof. Kristian Lopez-Vargas to enhance active learning via personalized online textbooks with interactive features.
Research Interests: Her work spans theoretical economics and econometrics, emphasizing strategic interactions, network effects, and structural estimation. Key areas include the empirical analysis of games with monotone best responses, peer effects in preferences, and the codiffusion of technologies in social networks.
Education Hub Project: The platform supports active learning through customizable online books with interactive questions and real-time feedback. It aims to collect student interaction data to improve targeted instruction, inspired by her pandemic-era experience teaching via online methods.
Collaborations: Notable co-authors include Rabah Amir, John Quah, and Amilcar Menichini. Her research has been published in top journals like the American Economic Journal: Microeconomics, Quantitative Economics, and Journal of Economic Theory.
