Nassim Tabri is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Carleton University, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. He is currently on sabbatical. Holding a Ph.D. from Concordia University, his research focuses on transdiagnostic factors in mental health disorders and the mental health implications of group membership. His work integrates clinical and social identity theories to understand health-compromising behaviors like disordered eating and gambling, as well as group-related influences on well-being.
Key research areas include developing a transdiagnostic theory for mental health disorders and exploring how group dynamics (e.g., intergroup threat, social identification) impact mental health. He has contributed to longitudinal studies on eating disorders and pioneered frameworks linking financially focused self-concept to gambling pathology.
Publications highlight interventions in responsible gambling, predictors of eating disorder recovery, and psychometric validation of scales for addictive behaviors. His interdisciplinary approach bridges clinical psychology, behavioral science, and public health policy.
