Narcyz Ghinea is an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at Macquarie University's School of Humanities Ethics and Agency Research Centre. His work focuses on overcoming legal and policy barriers to equitable access to healthcare technologies, with expertise in therapeutic goods regulation, medical negligence law, and commercial determinants of health. He holds editorial roles at PLOS One and the Journal of Bioethical Inquiry, and is a board member of the Prescription Justice Institute.
Education: PhD in Medicine (UNSW, 2017) and BSc Hons in Applied Mathematics (UNSW, 2002). Prior roles include research fellowships at the University of Sydney and advisory roles with NSW Health and WHO Collaborating Centre for Pharmaceutical Pricing.
Research interests center on institutional drivers affecting healthcare access, including off-label prescribing, cost barriers to medicines, and the ethical implications of commercialization in healthcare. Over 75 publications span leading journals like The Lancet and BMJ, addressing topics such as AI in patient care, physician responsibilities, and global health equity.
Awarded the Macquarie University Research Fellowship (2021), he advises governments and NGOs on health policy. His recent work emphasizes systemic inequities in medicine access and ethical challenges in pharmaceutical policy.
