- NIH/NIDCD K23 Mentored Patient-Centered Career Development Award
- American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation Research-Practitioner Collaboration Grant
Her recent publications explore stutter-affirming interventions in school settings, readiness for change in adults who stutter, adolescent transition support, graduate stuttering pedagogy, and neurodiversity frameworks in clinical practice. These works emphasize social-emotional outcomes, implementation science, and evidence-based strategies for enhancing communication well-being.
Rodgers' research is deeply informed by her lived experience as a person who stutters and her advocacy within the stuttering self-help community. She is dedicated to developing assessments and interventions that promote mental health and clinical competence among SLPs, with a focus on culturally responsive practices.
Active grants include a 2025–2030 NIH/NIDCD K23 award for school-based stutter-affirming therapy trials and a 2024–2026 ASLHF grant to validate a self-report assessment for stutter-affirming outcomes. She leads the Stuttering Lab at the University of Iowa, which investigates stuttering from interdisciplinary perspectives.
