Nancy Pollock-Ellwand

Nancy Pollock-Ellwand is the Dean Professor of Landscape Architecture Programs at the School of Landscape Architecture and Planning within the College of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture at the University of Arizona. She holds degrees in landscape architecture, architecture, and planning, and is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects. Her career spans leadership roles, including former dean positions at the University of Calgary and University of Adelaide.

Pollock-Ellwand specializes in cultural landscapes, heritage conservation, and urban reform history. Her international work with UNESCO and ICOMOS focuses on protecting cultural landscapes, including World Heritage Sites in Bhutan, Norway, the Czech Republic, and Japan. She developed an online course on cultural landscape conservation for the University of Arizona’s Graduate Certificate in Heritage Conservation and advises on local preservation efforts at Mission San Xavier del Bac through the Patronato San Xavier.

Her scientific contributions are recognized through her fellowship in the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects and election to the Board of Trustees of World Heritage USA. She actively participates in ICOMOS advisory missions and policy development for cultural landscape protection.

Pollock-Ellwand’s work intersects with collaborative projects like the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine, which emphasizes biophilic design and holistic health principles in the built environment. Her leadership roles and global engagements highlight her commitment to integrating cultural, historical, and environmental considerations in landscape architecture.
