Nancy B. Grimm is a Regents Professor and Virginia M. Ullman Professor of Ecology at Arizona State University’s School of Life Sciences, with affiliations as a Distinguished Sustainability Scientist and Special Advisor to the Director for Charter Initiatives. She co-directs the international NATURA network and Earth Systems Science for the Anthropocene, while serving as a Distinguished Global Futures Scientist at ASU’s Global Futures Scientists and Scholars program.
- Education: PhD in Ecology, Arizona State University (1985)
Her research focuses on global environmental change, biogeochemistry, and urban/stream ecosystem dynamics, particularly nitrogen cycling and climate change adaptation in social-ecological-technological (SETS) systems. Recent work examines novel desert disturbances like wildfire impacts on stream processes.
Recent publications emphasize urban resilience, stream metabolism, nitrogen dynamics, and climate adaptation frameworks. She has contributed to major journals such as Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and Earth’s Future.
