Nance Lucas

Nance Lucas is an Associate Professor in the School of Integrative Studies at George Mason University, where she also serves as the Executive Director of the Center for the Advancement of Well-Being. She previously held the position of Associate Dean of the School of Integrative Studies. Additionally, she is an affiliate faculty member with The Gallup Organization and the Higher Education Program at George Mason University.

Education:

• Ph.D. in Higher Education with a concentration in Leadership Studies and Ethics from the University of Maryland, College Park
• Master's degree in College Student Personnel from the Pennsylvania State University
• Bachelor's degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the Pennsylvania State University

Research Interests: Dr. Lucas's teaching and scholarship focus on positive psychology, leadership, well-being, and ethics. She is particularly invested in advancing well-being initiatives and leadership development programs across the university.

Books and Publications: She is a co-author of the best-selling book Exploring Leadership: For College Students Who Want To Make A Difference (1st, 2nd, and 3rd editions) published by Jossey-Bass. She has also contributed to Leadership Reconsidered and The Social Change Model of Leadership Development.

Previous Contributions: Before joining George Mason University, Dr. Lucas held positions at the University of Maryland and Ohio University. She was the creator and convener of the 1997 Global Leadership Week Program, co-founder of the National Leadership Symposium, and co-founder of the National Clearinghouse for Leadership Programs. She has also served on various national committees including the W. K. Kellogg Foundation Leadership Studies Project Ethics Focus Group and the Kellogg Forum on Higher Education National Dialogue Series Planning Team.

Student Supervision: Dr. Lucas has supervised doctoral dissertations including:
