Nana Anokye is a Professor of Health Economics at Brunel University London, where he leads the Brunel Global Health Academy and the Africa Regional Working Group. He serves as Health Economics Lead for the NIHR North West London Applied Research Collaboration and holds a Visiting Professor position at Imperial College London.
- PhD in Health Economics (Brunel), MSc in Environmental Resources Management (Germany), BA in Economics and Sociology (Ghana)
His research focuses on economic evaluation of public health interventions, particularly in physical activity, obesity, stroke rehabilitation, and financial incentives for maternal health. His work has influenced NICE guidelines and the Canadian Academy of Sport and Exercise position statement. Key themes include value for money assessments, behavioral economics, and global health policy.
Recent publications span systematic reviews on obesity interventions in Africa, virtual gaming rehabilitation for stroke, and economic burden of multimorbidity. Notable awards include the Walduck Prize for Research Impact.
He teaches MSc Public Health and Health Promotion, contributes to economic evaluation courses, and co-founded the Research Life podcast to communicate research and mentor early-career scientists.
